He graduating cumlaude in Chemistry from Texas A&M University, then studied at the University of Texas School of Medicine San Antonio. After a residency in internal medicine and rheumatology fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center, he earned the Rheumatology's Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Certification (RhMSUS) from the American College of Rheumatology.
