Dr. Emerson directs the intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring at HSS. Monitoring is commonly performed to enhance the safety of surgical procedures that may affect certain nerves or the spinal cord. Prior to coming to HSS, Dr. Emerson developed and headed a similar program at Columbia University Medical Center.
