My colonial had a problem that appeared to be two corners of the facia foundation breaking off and sinking. The engineer upon purchase as well as two well known local foundation firms diagnosed it this way also. Something didn't seem quite right to me so I held out for a third foundation firm to give me their estimate of what was going on. The assessor fm VFS applied a laser level to the diagnosis, realised that the foundation was rising, not sinking, and found large roots in two places that had muscled their way under the brick, even btwn the foundation and the cinder block. If I had gone with either of the other two companies, they'd have sold me multiple push piers, gotten half way into it and either hid their mistake or would have had to start over. VFS got the diag right and sent over a brick mason who was wonderful. The job was very well done all around and I was very satisfied to see care taken in understanding the problem clearly before rushing me into push pier galore. i highly recommend VFS.
