The purpose of the Cox Professional & Management Development organization is to provide critical thinking education and training to business, organizations, and government agencies. Each instructor has an earned Doctorate with years of specific experience in the field and is also a university professor. CPMD is committed to inspiring and building teamwork and cooperation within business operations. In addition, each CPMD team member is a decorated United States veteran with specific knowledge in procurement and military operations. Courses and workshops are designed to refine critical thinking skills and are tailored to organization, industry, government, or corporate requirement. Courses follow a common methodology and build upon each other, centered on standardized and complementary critical thinking tools. These tools address topics of (1) analyzing meanings (2) recognizing arguments and evaluating their strengths (3) recognizing and avoiding fallacies and (4) making decisions in light of available information or evidence. Specialized learning areas include interpreting information for understanding, understanding meanings and circumstances, context and interest guide to analyzing circumstances to verify truth, and determining truth in assertion and evidence. Each course is focused on treatments of induction, informal fallacies, and both propositional and traditional syllogistic logic relating to critical thinking and the flow of information. Courses materials are user friendly and designed for students unfamiliar with systematic approaches to analytical critical thinking. Learning points help students focus on crucial distinctions and fundamental ideas.
