The "new roof" claim for a recently listed home is actually a roof with two layers of material (shingles on top of old shingles). While this is acceptable under the Florida Building Code, it is the maximum number of layers allowable. When replacement is required, there will likely be an added expense in removal and disposal of the material. It also decreases the life of the roof by 10 years. I've also seen handymen put 2x4's on T1-11 siding to cover wood rot and call it "trim". Questionable practices.
