I would steer clear of this particular therapist.. I was all set to have my first telehealth appointment with her and I told her that I had looked up her LCSW license to verify it on the Connecticut Department of Public Health website to make sure that it was still active and that there were no disciplinary actions. I told her that I had done this because I had some bad experiences with therapists in the past and in one case I found out later that one particular therapist had disciplinary actions taken by CT Dept. of Public Health, and I believe his license had even been suspended for a period of time. I told her that I didn't want to have any more bad experiences and so I made it a habit of doing this license verification nowadays when I am considering seeing a new therapist. I felt I had a legitimate right and reason to do all this and I told her that I wanted to be transparent with her and that it was nothing personal but for my own protection, all which seemed perfectly legitimate to me and I felt that if she was professional and had no reason to hide anything, she would have no problem with somebody doing any of this. . She didn't have her license number listed on the Psychology Today website as many of the therapists do, and also had her name listed on PT as "Ludi" Pappas which made it more difficult to me for me to verify her license. She also has another entirely different license number I discovered, which may be because social workers have one listed with the State of Connecticut and one on a national registry. I'm not sure about that, but it's possible, I suppose. Anyway she seemed very eager to set up the first online session with me and had taken my insurance information and ask what kind of a time slot I was looking for in terms of setting up the first session, but as soon as I informed her that I had verified her license so I wouldn't have any problems as I had in the past, she immediately emailed me and told me that she didn't think we would be "a good match". Just like that. Didn't even give me a detailed reason. Just said " I'm very sorry but I don't think we would be a good match. Good luck finding another therapist". I was pretty shocked. So all my assumptions about how I was being reasonable and that she would not have any objections to my verifying her license and checking to make sure there were no lapses in licensure, no disciplinary actions and so forth... all my assumptions that if she was an ethical professional she would have no problem with any of that, all those assumptions went right out the window when I got that terse email from her informing me that she would not be working with me. So I would be very careful of this woman. There's something off about her. In retrospect because of the way I had to dig for information to properly identify her and find her license number and so forth, in addition to the way she shut it all down when I told her I'd verified her license, I'm beginning to wonder if she had/has something to hide. I don't know exactly what to make of it because she wouldn't really give me any specific reasons as to why she canceled the appointment. So I can only draw the conclusions that I have. I think she's somebody to stay away from.
