About Dr. Myers William Myers left Northshore Medical Group in 2015 to reopen a practice dedicated to care of his patients as a primary goal. Medicine has become an impersonal big medicine machine. It is time for doctors to take back the reins of medical control. This is best served by doctors individually working with their patients. At Dr Stuart Sondheimer's office in Skokie, near his prior locations in Evanston and Skokie, Dr Myers can now arrange personalized patient care with less need for bureaucratic management. This will lead to greater doctor patient direct time and less filing in meaningless computer data. His new location has state of the art equipment and he is a faculty member at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine where he has taught and mentored residents in cataract surgery for over 30 years. He was named Teacher of the Year 3 straight years in the Ophthalmology Program there. Dr Myers established a Resident Education fund at Northwestern making a major donation to promote resident education. Dr. Myers created the ambulatory surgery mentorship program in 2002. He has trained several classes of ophthalmologists in that role. He current researches in the field of ophthalmic pharmacology introducing intracameral (Dropless) dilation techniques to cataract surgery in the United States. Most patients do not need to use any drops prior to or after their cataract surgery. Dr Myers has been the creator and primary instructor in an international program at the ASCRS and AAO, ophthalmology's largest organized groups for the last several years. He is a consultant to the pharmaceutical industry. Dr Myers has performed more than 2000 cataract surgeries. He is an active member and part owner of Northshore Same Day Surgery Center in Lincolnwood where he performs most of his cataract procedures. He was instrumental in getting a femtosecond cataract laser at the Center, but after completing certification on the laser, he still prefers the surgical feel of manual self-performed surgery. He has been a speaker at the annual Resident Phacoemulsification Course at Northwestern since its inception, giving him exposure to the other best surgical teachers in the Chicago. Dr Myers lives in Chicago with his wife Lisa and dog, Sookie a Grand Champion Bearded Collie. He has two daughters, Darienne a PhD candidate at UCSF Immunology Program and Jenna, an admissions officer at her alma mater, Bryn Mawr College.
