We are known for writing positive reviews, but we feel obligated to tell you that we cannot recommend Staples Tub Services. The job was to paint our shower pan tray in our bathroom. The receptionist was kind, outgoing and responsive. The owner was reassuring when he came and looked over the job. His friendly manner stimulated optimism. When he suggested the job might cost around two hundred dollars. it sounded fair and within our budget. When he got back to his office he would send us an invoice, description, and a quote. Two weeks after he left, things went downhill. We made dozens of attempts to reach someone, but no one would return our telephone calls or emails. It was frustrating. A short time later we got an email with a five hundred and ninety five dollars. quote. We wrote back asking why? The explanation was that they had to make a profit. What happened to the nice owner we met, he didn't manage, oversee or supervise anything? Why did the gentleman make no attempts to contact us? The day before the job another email arrived wanting our credit card number, providing us with zero paperwork and zero authenticity. A proposed eight hour two day job, turned into a three & a half hour three day job. The shower pan caulking shows peeling and blistering. The entire bathroom is coated with fine mist of paint, the granite counter tops, the tub, the glass shelves and its contents, due to an overspray. The job turned into a drama of confusion, terrible communication, and unexceptional work. We weren't satisfied but just wanted it to be over. We were told that we broke the law, because we provided a post-dated check. We sent pictures and feel confident we'll never hear from them again. We have done business with close to a hundred contractors over the years and only a couple times have we run into any quite as terrible as Staples Tub Services. Sorry, we fail to see much positive in our experience, so be forewarned, be careful, and don't get ripped off like we did.
