We hired this company to do extensive electrical work at our home. They were responsive and did the work quickly. However, after the work was done and paid for, we found that Carmean Electric is not a licensed contractor and is not licensed to do electrical work in the city of Springfield. We also found out that they did not obtain the proper permits (since they are not licensed they cannot get permits) to do the work, so the city cannot certify that the work was done up to city code. We also found out by talking to other electrical contactors that Carmean overcharged us by close to triple what the job should have cost. After finding all this information out, I contacted the owner, Curtis, who lied and said they were licensed. He changed that tune after I told him I had already spoken with the city and found out he was not licensed. He then went on to say that the job did not require licensing and permits, even though the city had already confirmed it did, and Carmean has been sent letters telling them to cease doing work in the Springfield city limits. During the conversation, Curtis was extremely combative and told us he would not do anything to rectify the situation. He said even if we took him to court and won, he would not rectify the situation. In addition to all the above, they also broke lines between our pool pump and pool and left a ton of trash in our yard. This company will rip you off.
