I don’t recommend that you end up in Hugo needing any kind of real assistance. I wandered in Sunday morning in distress ( by way of GPS looking for nearest open food after I realize I was in trouble as a newly diagnosed diabetic , 64 year old single woman traveling alone on the interstate ( 10/27/2019). The singular reason I was in the town was I needed help ... I was grateful when I saw a police car came in behind me. My immediate request for help was ignored, two times he ignored my request. I was given a ticket and sent on my way. ( ended back on the interstate in worse distress, (did get help eventually) Not one attempt of aid, not one by this dismissive officer. After almost 3 days of attempting to reach officer Whites supervisor he did return my call , where through the worst connection ever I was informed by the “assistant “, that his officer was an expert on diabetes and COPD and his call was, I was fine, the connection was then lost or he hung up on me. Could be either. Hallelujah!!!! It’s a miracle in small town Oklahoma, I am cured, will notify my Pulmonary specialist and primary ! Will stop any meds. Total Mickey Mouse good ole boy Operation. No accountability, and by all appearances no real concern for the general public. If you are a stranger in need ... drive on by Hugo, it’s a disaster!
