If you are a guest at a SDM property, don't expect them to do more than (eventually) send you check-in info.
I first reached out via VRBO five days before our stay to ask some questions, especially to verify where we could have some critical medical equipment delivered. I followed up twice over the next couple days and received no response.
Finally, our check-in time had passed and we still had no communication, including how to get into the house. We started to worry we didn't actually have a place to stay. After a fourth attempt to contact (this time by text) I finally got check-in information and answers to "some" (not all) of my questions. Regarding my critical shipment I was told "I dont have ang confirmation on a package but if you sent it to the house address, thagnia where it would be." (sic)
When it was time for our package to arrive, there was no delivery. We checked at the clubhouse to see if it was there and were told no, there are never any USPS deliveries to any address in this community! I cannot overstate how absolutely critical this delivery was. We would have made other arrangements had we known we could not ship to the house, and now we were worrying about a family member potentially getting very ill instead of enjoying our (very expensive) vacation.
We contacted the property manager, Amber with Special Dreams Management, and she could not have cared less, other than to argue that it wasn't her problem. The best we got out of her was "I don't see how it's my job to know that." She was obviously just trying to get rid of us to get back to her crying baby.
Ultimately we lost a day and a half of our "magic" to worrying and fixing this problem that could have been avoided if Amber had just told us up front that she didn't know and didn't care. Instead she ignored us for days and then tossed us a guess on what we had told her multiple times was an absolutely critical issue.
Oh how was she supposed to know? Well the clubhouse staff were able to give us a whole pre-made packet on where we could get a package delivered, so I guess she could have bothered to have the same information they do in the "ten years I've worked here (that) this hasn't been a problem."
Uncommunicative, uninformed, uncaring. Frankly, bordering on belligerent. Avoid at all costs.
