Chicago Barbell Compound Chicago Barbell Compound was originally opened in 2012. The former owner had dreams to build one of the most hardcore gyms in Chicago and that's what he did. Eventually, he would change the name to "The Barbell Compound," which suited the culture within the gym to fullest. So many big name power lifters and bodybuilders worked out here and would visit when they were in Chicago just to get the opportunity to experience the madness that is now called Chicago Barbell Compound.
