Naples Generator's (NG) engineer evaluated our premise and made us a full / house / property back up generator full installation proposal which we accepted. After a year and a half, we finally had a generator all hooked up. Upon our first power outage, a temporary FPL interruption, the generator fired up. It was mid day in September so peak a/c usages on a sprawling large property. A moment later it shut down with an error message of being over loaded. Naples Generator (NG) responded and was baffled initially but said we don't have the correct FPL service to our house. NG said the FPL service was grossly undersized and Steve the owner of NG said they used that as the basis for sizing the generator they installed. I HIRED AN ELECTRICIAN TO DIAGNOSE THE SITUATION AND IT TURNS OUT TO BE EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE SITUATION NG CLAIMED. NG sized and installed a 200 amp geni to our 400 amp service, grossly under sizing the geni. My electrician did a peak load test, a test any generator engineer or professional should have done before making a proposal, and that just validated the obvious, that NG grossly undersize the geni. Being backed into a corner, Steve/NG admits the geni is undersized. I have proposed to Steve/NG that I pay for the difference in cost of the Mfgr's suggested retail price between the current and correct generator. Steve has gone radio silent.
