I'm leaving this review in hopes that no one else wastes $8,000 to have their concrete resurfaced like we did. We invested over $1M in remodeling a new office building in Salt Lake City and the ADA concrete ramp was starting to pit and crumble due to its age. We contacted Anna and she personally came out to do the install. After they finished, the concrete looked great. But in just a few short months winter hit and the entire resurfacing they did almost looks as bad, if not worse, than the original 30 year old concrete we paid them $8,000 to fix. When I first contacted the company and send them photos asking them for help with the failure of this install, Anna replied promptly via email and said someone would be out once the weather cleared to inspect it. Then a gentleman who works at the company named ANDY came out to inspect it and called me. The first thing he said to me was "DO YOU WANT THE GOOD NEWS OR THE BAD NEWS FIRST". I never understand why anyone would start a conversation like this, and to my surprise, even though they give a 5 year warranty on this work, he said (of course) the warranty was voided because we used rock salt on it instead of ice melt. It's funny that he just knows that we use rock salt on the concrete (which we did NOT), and was looking for the quickest way out of a warranty claim. I asked Andy why no one gave us any after-care instructions for the concrete, and he said its not his job, we're supposed to read the fine print on the contract regarding the CONCRETE WARRANTY. I felt like I was being harassed at a car dealership in the finance office when the warranty I thought I purchased just turned out to be false. I was quite upset that our $8,000 investment into totally new and resurfaced concrete would last AT LEAST 5 years (which is what they claim to warranty it for), but no, it didn't even hold up barely a year. Andy kept telling me its not his problem that I didn't read the fine print contract. THIS IS CONCRETE, not a used car. Why weren't we given any after-care instructions? I told Andy I thought this was ridiculous that he was trying to worm his way out of a warranty claim, and then he said he was going to offer a discount to fix it, but that he didn't think he would offer it anymore because I was upset and he didn't like my tone. Well, what would your reaction be if someone tried to screw you out of 8,000 for something you expected to last at least 5 years or more? I then emailed Anna and explained the extremely unprofessional interaction I had with Andy, and Anna was much more professional. She even offered to give us a discount to fix it that would be an additional $6,127 the poor quality concrete they already charged us 8,000 for. What a deal! Out of the money we spent renovating this beautiful property, I now have AWFUL looking concrete at our entrance that is going to continue to fail. I paid 8,000 for something that looks worse than the original, and they won't warranty it. They'll respond to this review and claim that we used rock salt, which we did not. We used ICE MELT, which they also claim is not allowed, so if this concrete is so sensitive to ANYTHING you put on it, why in the world would they not give us ANY AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS so we know how to treat this material?? TLDR: ANDY SHOULD NEVER TALK TO A CUSTOMER AGAIN IN HIS LIFE, AWFUL INTERACTION FROM BEGINNING TO END, ANDY IS JUST LOOKING TO SCORE $8,000 BUCKS AND MOVE ON, NO AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN, WIGGLED THEIR WAY OUT OF A WARRANTY CLAIM, CONCRETE FAILED IN 1 YEAR, 8,000 OF WASTED MONEY, AND THEN THEY OFFERED TO RE-DO IT FOR ANOTHER 6,127! If you would like to come see Concrete Design System's work, you're welcome to come to our office at 1370 S 2100 E, Salt Lake City, UT 84108 and I'll be happy to spend some time with you showing the failed product and poor quality.
