What happens in a society that is reduced to you versus me, or you minus me — in which you plus me is thought to be morally wrong, shameful, taboo? What happens in a society that is reduced to you versus me, or you minus me — in which you plus me is thought to be morally wrong, shameful, taboo? Well, such a society finds itself pitted against itself, and that way, paralyzed, stuck, broken. Some groups will rise, and some will fall — but in no way can such a society lift all lives in it up. Hence soon enough, such a society, because it cannot invest in healthcare, education, etcetera, the basics of decent lives, will begin to fail, falter, stagnate. As it stagnates, pressures and tensions for revolution will arise. But revolutions are not always noble and beautiful things — they can fall backwards into tribalism, too. But the whole problem of stagnation and decline has begun because the sum of you and me is wrongly assumed to be negative, not positive.
