Since being established, Mako Medical has continued to grow, most recently adding 300 new positions to help in its work combating the COVID-19 crisis. With the ongoing pandemic, the company has engaged in several efforts to mitigate risk and reduce cases of the virus. Alongside providing patented testing services, Mako has donated 20,000 test kits to the NC Medical Society. As it has grown the laboratory has received a number of accolades, including being named one of the best startup companies in 2020 by Forbes magazine. It has also earned the Life Science Award and was named one of the fastest-growing companies of the year by Business North Carolina in 2019. Since its founding, Mako Medical has been committed to giving back to the community. Alongside donating to local charities, the laboratory has hired numerous military veterans from across the state.
