On May 19th, my entire family was pulled into by far, the worst home owner’s experience we have ever had. In 44 years of my short life, I have never met someone with an innate ability to scam such as Edwin Coreas. I searched for a reputable company to help me find someone to install a 16 x 12 concrete pad. Sounded simple enough and I discovered a company called Networx. They transferred me to ETC Construction, basically a one man show consisting of Edwin. He offered to come to my home for an estimate. His price was quite high, but within seconds I was able to chew him down nearly 2 thousand dollars. That should have been the first sign of his ignorance (and mine). The second sign came immediately when he offered to do everything that day. Miscommunication started immediately. I came outside to find him digging in the wrong place, starting nearly 2 feet away from my preferred spot. He was able to convince me to leave it that way because he said that was the only way I would be able to anchor the pergola legs down. I have no idea why I trusted him, but I did…and he proceeded to dig. Now, as he is digging along with his partner, they started to put all of my grass on the side of the house. Okay, I guess clean-up is not included. So, I began to bag grass and dirt. 47 bags later, I went inside to attend to my children. Unbeknownst to me, they decided to throw additional grass and dirt in a “secret area” that had sprinklers. They covered the sprinklers which I did not know, and within 24 hours, I lost an ENTIRE quarter of my backyard due to mud. The entire lawn has to be replaced and I just started that process. Speaking of sprinklers, they broke 2 and one line. I originally moved them myself because they were supposed to begin digging there. Well, even with digging at the wrong spot, they still managed to damage the sprinklers and line. My wife and kids left because my wife could not take another second of this man. I stayed patient and went inside for a work video. While I was inside, the cement truck pulled up. I said to myself, okay great, the rebar should be in by now and they will start pouring. I came outside when I was finished and found my patio with only about 3/4 full. One entire moon shaped part of the concrete was left open with a small layer of concrete on the bottom. I asked Edwin what was happening as I heard the cement truck pull away. His answer, “F%CK THEM. They wanted me to pay them for over time”. I said, “Edwin, we have to get them back!” He refused, as he insisted he was going to sue them. Another truck came the next day. I could not believe my eyes and how bad it looked. Edwin ensured me it would be fine by tomorrow. Well, that night, my wife and I actually sat outside and cried as we stared at this horrible creation. It was two different colors, un-level EVERYWHERE, lifted about 2inches higher than anywhere else because of the second pour, already cracking, and had wheel barrel marks, large box marks, and boot marks throughout the patio (permanently cemented in). When he arrived the next day, my wife and I expressed our frustration. We went on to inform him that this is NOT what we asked for and he had the nerve to say that we did! That was until I pointed to my camera RING device on my shed and told him he was on video for everything. His tune quickly changed and he admitted it was “not finished”. I also went on to inform Edwin that I was taping him now as well. I had him admit that I gave him payment in full yet the job was not complete (forget about complete to my satisfaction). I demanded he give me some of my money back (I gave him all cash) until he finished. He refused and said “it was all gone”. He then told me he was going to a store to rent a sand machine. He was gone all day and came back for about 5 minutes to show me a receipt as proof that he rented the machine, but the machine would not be ready for a day or so. 4 days went by and I called each day. Each day was another excuse about the sand machine. He then told me he was sick and in an accident and had no truck?! A few days later, he told me he was getting his money back for the machine because he had another idea. He wanted to place cement tiles on top of the patio. At this point, my wife and I could not believe our ears and eyes. I told him I wanted my money back and the patio removed. He laughed and hung up the phone on me, and I have not heard from him since. Please keep in mind that each time I called about the “machine” his stories and excuses would become more elaborate. Edwin is a trained scam artist no doubt. Finally, I made the call to the company Networx that recommended this horrible man. Not only was his work horrible, he was a very mean individual (who had me VERY fooled from the start). I wanted to have as many facts on hand as possible, so as preparation for my phone call, I reviewed some of my RING videos. It cannot get worse than what I witnessed. Although Edwin told me he was using rebar (one SHOULD use rebar or mesh for ANY concrete project), when I looked back at the pouring, I observed him drop an entire wheel barrel of cement on my lawn (another piece of property destroyed…no wonder why the grass was dying there!)…and, worst of all…he poured the cement directly on my grass with NO SUPPORT whatsoever. No rebar, mesh, gravel, NOTHING!!!! This man is scam artist and has absolutely no idea how to perform any type of home owner projects.
