We purchased a new construction DR Horton home roughly three years ago in Pensacola FL. While we have had our hands full with short falls and short cuts used by the builder, we also now have an issue with this contractor. Short version is, the metal fascia used by the contractor appears to have been defective. By this I mean the process to get the paint to adhere to the metal must have failed, as three years in we have sheets of paint coming off our fascia. It is not small flakes or pieces, but rather 3 to 4 foot sections completely released and fallen off. Now in walking the perimeter of the home I can see where more areas are bubbling out and will eventually fall off. I feel like if we had bought a camper, which is much less expensive than a home, paint would not be falling off within three years and I have never lived in a home no matter how old where paint releases from the fascia like this. Definitely something went wrong in the manufacturing process. I have attempted to contact the contractor multiple times asking for assistance and to inquire if there is some type of manufacturers warranty that might come into place to repair the faulty pieces. Despite my being cordial and profession in my outreach to them, simply asking for information and assistance. No call. Nothing. Building new construction or remodeling already is a pain in the you know what and the last thing you need is extra problems from a non-responsive contractor. Save yourself the hassle and go with someone else that places a higher value on customer service, as well as someone who will better stand behind their work products and services.
