I have travelled extensively, having been raised in the Air Force. I was a medic in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973. I hold a Bachelor of General Studies Degree in Psychology from the University of Kansas which I earned in 1976. I then earned a Masters Degree in Social Work in 1978 from the University of Kansas and I obtained my Doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy in 1992 from the American Institute of Hypnotherapy. This degree is accredited and was one of the earlier efforts in combining traditional classroom studies with online academic work & video-conferencing supervision. I have been continuously in private practice since 1979 while also working at various agencies in mental health treatment, alcohol and drug treatment, and administrative capacities. As I have over 30 years experience in the provision of mental health and alcohol and drug treatment, I have developed a broad array of skills and experiences with many types of mental health and psychiatric and social problems. I have worked in a variety of mental health treatment settings including outpatient, alcohol and drug and mental health services, inpatient psychiatric, inpatient alcohol and drug, day hospital, mental health and alcohol and drug residential care services for substance users.
