First and foremost, ALWAYS trust your gut. DO NOT hire Evergreen Landscaping (sole owner, Isarael Arzate) for even a simple job. I called to get an estimate on a major landscape job with one portion taking priority. I emphatically explained and reiterated several times that a roughly 24x55 area needed to be completely leveled and 4" compacted crushed rock needed to be placed on top for a 12x38 structure to be placed on. Isarael acknowledged via text the area would be level and the rock would be compacted at a 4" depth. We had a scheduled start date of 04/09/2024 (two weeks after contract signed); he told me to let him know if anything in my schedule changed and he'd do the same. The morning of, I sent him a text to say the gate was unlocked and he replied he was out of state on a family emergency and would not be available to complete the job until that following weekend. He did show up that weekend for a couple hours and claimed to have leveled and compacted the rock. Our structure arrived a few days after (from Pennsylvania) and when placed on the rock, the rock sank down and is over a foot off being level from end to end. Items literally roll to the other end when placed inside. I sent Isarael a text and no response. I texted again three days later and he called saying he got my text, but was busy and requested I send photos. I sent several photos and didn't hear from him and had to text again a week later and told him I would like $1000 of the $1700 paid because that's what it was going to cost to have the structure moved to fix what he did. He became extremely rude, tried to blame the structure's delivery company for putting it on unlevel ground even though it was his error and told me the only right I have is for him to help fix the leveling once the structure is moved. Why on earth would I want his "help" when he couldn't perform the simple job to begin with? He told me I wasn't getting any money back because the rock was $800 (it was not, the company left the invoice) and the fabric was $300 (but he said it was only $200 on the contract) so he's extremely dishonest, clearly takes no accountability for his shoddy work on top of being completely unprofessional. Isarael's contracts aren't even elementary level, he never provided a quote for the other portion of landscaping (no loss there) and wouldn't provide a final invoice when asked. Also, when you look up his contractors license it shows it is currently under suspension. The only service Evergreen Landscaping provides is disservice.
