Carriage Way Bed & Breakfast is a traditional, Victorian-style building constructed between 1883 and 1885 by Edward and Rosalie Masters for their family. Mr. Masters was a lead carpenter for multi-billionaire Henry Flagler and worked on many projects including the Ponce de Leon Hotel. For many years, the home was very prominent in the city of St Augustine. Then, in the 1940s, the house was converted into apartments. In 1984, this romantic structure was lovingly and extensively restored to its original grandeur, fulfilling a dream of creating what is now a premier bed and breakfast inn. Carriage Way is a definite jewel of this ancient city. Located in the very center of history, our inn is located just steps from old St. George Street: home of the walking mall with unique and charming shops, museums, historic sites, and beautiful views. Flagler College (the original Ponce de Leon Resort Hotel), the 17th-century European fort Castillo de San Marcos, many fine restaurants, art galleries, carriage tours, and the waterfront are within four short blocks. All sites within the Historic District are only a 5- to 10-minute stroll from the inn. While so very close to the action, Carriage Way is quiet and peaceful in the evenings.
