In jiu-jitsu the emphasis is on leverage and technique. Through the use of these principles a person can defend themselves from larger, stronger opponents. As well, a naturally strong person can enhance their ability through the use of these same techniques. Brazilian jiu-jitsu does not normally train in punching or kicking. It is a system based primarily on grappling. Because of this, one can safely train at a full-contact pace with little fear of serious injury. The goal of Brazilian jiu-jitsu is to find the most efficient way to solve problems. This aspect is not only applicable in jiu-jitsu training, but in nearly all areas of life.
