Horrible company. There should be negative stars on here. People of color beware. This company contracts appraisals out to people in different states who uses old comps from the year before to decrease your home value and does not give the home the value it is worth. Even my lender stated that he has never had this happen to two of his clients before. In my case, this company (Norman Hubbard) sent out an appraiser named Christopher Numbers from Gateway appraisals in Jacksonville, Florida to do my appraisal. First problem is this gentleman has an attitude when he gets to the home and making statements under his breath but I think nothing of it at first. So, I'm thinking everything checks out ok so I can finish my refinance on my home. Weeks later, I find out the appraisal was shorted 15,000 of what the home is worth and he used comps from a year ago when I purchased the home and not the comps that was sent. Since the purchase of the home there have been upgrades. Then what made me really get upset was the fact a friend of mine was refinancing her home at the same time, used the same company, and the same guy was sent out to her home. Her appraisal was shorted also. Plus the appraiser stated microaggressive comments towards her and her girlfriend while doing her appraisal. Mind you we are both professional African American women!!! The gentleman they sent out was a older white man. I have heard of people of color being cheated out of the value of their home but now it is coming true for me also. I have a two story, 4 bedroom, two and a half bathroom, over 2500 square foot home with a pool and Florida room plus a two car garage. I explained this to the company and they said the only thing they can do is send other appraiser out but I would have to pay for it again. If this is the kind of discriminatory companies this company sends to people's home, I can only imagine how many people have had their home devalued. Maybe if I change all the pictures in my home and act more like the maid of my home it will appraised higher. As a consumer I should not have to feel this way but this gentleman did. Would not recommend him to any person or family of color.
