Fortunately for local residents, she’s dedicated her practice to providing personable and high-quality retinal care to the Southwest Florida region. Dr. Anita Shane MD is proud to serve as a retina doctor for patients in Venice, Englewood, and North Port. Having grown up in the Clearwater area, she feels a deep sense of commitment to the health and welfare of the residents of Southwest Florida. After becoming valedictorian at Palm Harbor University High School, Dr. Shane went on to earn a coveted position as a Rice/Baylor Scholar in Houston, Texas. At Rice University, she earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in three years. She then graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Shane went on to do her residency at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, the #1 ophthalmology program in the United States. She continued at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute for a two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship. During this time, Dr. Shane trained with some of the most admired vitreoretinal surgeons in the country and performed vitreoretinal surgical procedures using the most advanced techniques and equipment available. During her second year of fellowship, Dr. Shane was selected as Chief Resident and Director of the Ocular Trauma Service at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. Shane is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. She is credentialed at Sarasota and Manatee Memorial Hospitals. As the founder of Venice Retina, P.A., Dr. Shane promises to deliver high-quality retinal care and treat every patient with compassion and respect. She is devoted to being available locally for patient care at all times. Importantly, she is committed to bringing the most modern and effective methods to treating any retinal condition, including macular degeneration, flashes and floaters, and diabetic retinopathy.
