Michael leads the team and focuses on small business legal services, construction and property law, civil law, real estate law, and estate planning in Nevada County and throughout the state. Michael C. Mapes, Esq. is a product of Northern California and the Sierra Nevada foothills.  He was born and raised in Nevada County and married his high school sweetheart.  His legal experience has previously included complex litigation and transactional matters for some of the most sophisticated firms in the state of California and Nevada.  Having experienced high-stakes and in-depth legal matters, Michael recognized that his true passion was to serve the working class people of Northern California by providing simple and affordable legal services. From that realization, Mapes Legal, P.C. was formed and has now expanded to a team of attorneys who provide a variety of legal services for their community members. Michael leads the team and focuses on small business legal services, construction and property law, and estate planning in Nevada County and throughout the state. Nelly Sang, Esq. joined in (year).Nelly Sang joined Mapes Legal, P.C. in 2020 as our Workers’ Compensation Attorney in Nevada County, CA. In her 13+ years of practice, she has worked in litigation, as well as speechwriting and policy development. Nelly has been a licensed attorney since 2007 when she began her legal career in Criminal Defense as a public defender in Oregon. From there she earned her Masters of Law (LL.M.) in Environmental Law and lived between Bangkok and Manila doing consultant work in clean energy and water development. After spending an extended period of time in Asia, Nelly longed for the fresh air and mountain living she grew fond of in Oregon. With that realization, Nelly moved back to the U.S. and relocated to Northern California. Since then she’s worked as in-house counsel in Workers’ Compensation defense. Just prior to joining Mapes Legal, P.C., Nelly was practicing Workers' Compensation exclusively for one of California’s well-respected and statewide law firms. "
