I would NOT recommend this con for any work whatsoever. He is just that, a complete con. First off, if you buy the Groupon for gutter cleaning, he'll ask you to refund it "I'll give you a good deal" That should have been the first red flag. Shows up unprepared, no materials or tools, has to borrow my drill, red flag number two. Tells me "I'm reattaching your gutters or you'll have problems in 7-11 months. My method you'll be good for 10 years" When questioned about this "method" Chris tries real hard to sell his B.S. on the home owner, probably thinking they're not educated in building, wrong. Shows me a self tapping sheet metal screw, for one is the incorrect size in length and width, secondly who uses self tapping sheet metal screws in wood? Hint, an unlicensed, uneducated person who know zero about home or building construction, Red Flag number three. And finally, the icing on the cake, has a paper with only the business name, no other information other that "work being performed" tries selling on the fact it's a contract, any reputable contractor would provide a legitimate contract with disclaimers, License insurance bonding information. Did not like the fact, i put a stop to the work before any more damage to our home could have been done. Now for the grand prize...when doing research (Goole provides as ton) There's no General Contractor license or insurance information for NC/SC or even VA on Johnston's Remodeling. Chris is a complete con, with no experience whatsoever in the home remodeling business. Save yourself the hassle and hire a professional. One who has tools AND materials to do the work. This was a costly mistake on our part. Ohhh, and clean up, better be prepared to do it yourself. I'd give this con, -5.0 stars!! Update: Further research, this con artist is NOT accredited with the Better Business Bureau...in any state. As for the gutters needing "reattached" this clowns idea of doing so would have been against any code, and ruined the integrity of the gutters. The workmanship is laughable. Steer clear! Chris Johnston is a convicted felon, outstanding charges are attached for review including. Possession of a firearm by a felon, breaking a protective order and stalking.

!!DO NOT HIRE THIS PERSON!!! We hired Chris Johnston to paint the interior of our home (including window trim, baseboards, and all interior walls), as well as purchase and install flooring for every room. He was required to tear out and dispose of carpet before laying flooring. He advertises himself as "licensed and insured" but we have since discovered he is in fact not licensed as a general contractor (and may not be insured?) He told us the job would take 2 weeks. He began the carpet removal on Jan 20, 2022 and then didn't return to work for 4 days, leaving staples, tack strips, and nails on our floor. This was an unsafe environment for our family which includes two dogs and a toddler. Once he returned to work, he ignored the safety issue until he witnessed me attempting to remove the dangerous things from our floor to prevent injury. We then continued to receive nothing but excuses on why he was constantly late, leaving early, and just not coming in several days (mind you, he had stated it would take 2 weeks to complete and he was well over that time frame.) Once the main painter he had quit due to not being paid by Chris, the painting quickly went downhill. Chris/his several different "employees" (that continually quit or "got fired" as well as got in many arguments inside my home) got paint all over every single sink in our house, the ceilings, the furniture, toilets, light fixtures, outlet covers, bathtubs, and anything else you could imagine. It took several weeks of us practically begging him to use tape and drop cloths before he actually did. Before the actually good painter painter quit he had used the correct sheen of paint to "cut in" several areas and Chris went behind him and used semi gloss on the same walls, making it look awful. There was lots of dry rolling done, awful patching and puttying, and he didn't even start two full rooms and left a closet incomplete. He quit without finishing or returning money to us on February 25, 2022 (over a month after starting and he still wasn't done by any means) Once he laid the flooring in one room, there were 4 spots we had to point out to him where he had damaged the flooring and needed to fix his mistakes. He then realized he hadn't calculated how much flooring he would need correctly, so without authorization began laying the flooring without staggering it (which the manufacturer requires). When I brought up my concerns he told me it was totally fine to lay it that way and that "it's just aesthetics, but if you want me to stagger it (aka DO IT PROPERLY) YOU are responsible for buying more flooring, transition pieces, and quarter round." To that I replied we agreed to the price he gave us and that should include ALL necessary materials and that it was his responsibility to get the rest of the flooring. We wanted to fire him then but we had already made the mistake of giving him too much money up front and thought he'd keep the money and run. I sent him home for the day because I was highly frustrated with his lies and arguing. He agreed to order and deliver the necessary flooring after a meeting we had with him (which he STILL hasn't done) because he admitted the miscalculation was his fault and his responsibility. During the meeting he would not agree to give us money back for the labor of laying the flooring he was no longer responsible for doing (due to his incapability) because he "bundled the prices". I have all this on audio recording. We've since discovered he was short on flooring for three full size rooms and a small bathroom-- a miscalculation that shows his inexperience and ineptitude. He didn't paint all baseboards (or partially painted some), didn't finish painting the window trims, didn't replace anything he broke (including a curtain rod, a decorative vase, part of a light fixture, and blinds among other things) and didn't put back anything he moved, along with leaving two full rooms untouched other than some unsanded and sloppy puttying and a closet with only SOME cut in work painted. He was also required to caulk all windows, which he didn't complete either. We still have a large patch of carpet he never removed. He left a giant pile of trash he was responsible for hauling off. Once I began voicing my concern with his workmanship (especially with how messy he was being with painting) he called me disrespectful and was offended that I was pointing out the multitude of mistakes. He became argumentative and threatened to "go down to the courthouse" several times. He continually raised his voice at me in front of my child and I had to remind him to tone it down (which is also on recording) at which point he told me it was my fault he was "acting out of character." He used the fact that I was "disrespectful" as a reason to walk off the job unfinished with over $20k of our money. We have attempted to contact him about a resolution and he threatened a lawsuit and filing charges for harassment. DO NOT HIRE.
