Love of Christ AME Zion Tabernacle was founded in 1993 by our Pastor Rev Dr Mozella G. Mitchell. Dr Mitchell had both pastored in Tampa and St Petersburg and been Presiding Elder of the Tampa District, when she was given the assignment by the Bishop at the time Rte. Rev. Richard K. Thompson and a vision given by God to found a church in the Brandon area, and Love of Christ Tabernacle was established and Incorporated as a 501C-3 non profit organization. In our endeavor to grow the church following the vision given to our pastor we purchased the property at 2601 South Kings Avenue and four years later we also purchased the property next door to the church. The initial purpose for 2603 South Kings Avenue was of providing a christian day care but what has since been revealed to be the future ministry home for our Women at the Well Misinstry, a single womens spiritual support ministry to serve and assist women with ministries centered around the needs of women in today's society, inccluding elder women issues, single mdother issues including job preparedness, financial assistance, feeding and others. We are now preparing for our 22nd year in the Brandon area, we have expanded our ministries to include the Angel Tree Ministries which provides gifts at Christmas for children of prisoners, our clothing and shoe bin which through the company that manages the bin provides aid for the homeless and our SFJTD prayer request ministry. We are continually seeking new opportunities of service but as we know from scripture in Matthew 9: 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. If you are looking for a church where you can learn and grow in the Love of Christ under a Shepherd of the Lord then follow us as we follow Jesus and come home to Love of Christ. If you want a church experience rich in spirit and content founded on the word of God come home to Love of Christ. At Love of Christ we are small and the love of Christ abounds in us, because we are small we need all members to help to shelter the load of work to upbuild and edify God's church.
