Owner/Therapist: Janice Twesten
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who earned my Masters in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. I have intensive training from the Maple Counseling Center of Los Angeles, CA; with specialized training in psychodynamic therapy, experience working with eating disorders, substance use disorders and other co-occurring disorders. I have worked in both residential and outpatient settings and enjoy being able to work with adults, adolescents, families, and couples. I work with difficulties in relationships, the effects of trauma, substance use (and abuse), changes in mood, anxiety, and depression.
I believe therapy is a collaboration between both client, and therapist and that it takes courage to decide to either begin therapy for the first time, or return again. We don’t have to live in the past, however, there is knowledge in the past, which can help us understand you TODAY. I work to create a non-judgmental, supportive and nurturing environment.
It isn’t easy to reach out and ask for help, and confide in a stranger. Life is hard and it is full of obstacles. I want to help you navigate those obstacles, and challenges. No one chooses to experience anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction, or trauma, (etc.) but, you can choose to get help. You have taken the first step. Let’s work together.
