. The drinking water in Florida primarily comes from aquifers located just a few feet underground, making the water more susceptible to a wide range of surface contaminants. Those substances can affect everything from the quality to the taste of drinking water (including bottle water).
If your water comes from a public or municipal water system, it is regularly tested for contaminants regulated by federal standards,
such as microbial pathogens, radioactive elements and organic and inorganic toxic chemicals. However, it is important to note that these tests are conducted at the source.
Drinking as well as using clean water for our daily activities such as bathing or washing is extremely important for our health and wellbeing. As water comprises nearly 60% of adult body weight, it is essential for homeostasis and metabolism in all organ systems. Chronic exposure to low dose contaminants and toxicants in water may pose a health hazard and has been associated with neurological impairments.
