During the week of 6/16/22 Perfect Way Pavers put in a limestone tile pool deck for my neighbors, who left on vacation for that week. On the first day of the install the noise and dust was tolerable, because they were installing in the covered lenai and the wind velocity was low. On the second day, the tile was being laid in the open and the wind was blowing out of the East at 12-16 MPH. My house is to the West of the neighbor, so the wind and dust from the tile cutting was blowing through my screened lenai. We had our blinds pulled to knock down some of the noise. We finally went out for a few hours to escape the nuisance. When we came home, it was dark. The next morning the deck was finished, and out screened enclosure was caked with calcium carbonate dust, which is what limestone becomes when it is cut. Worse yet, the sprinklers had come on overnight and the dust was reverting to solid limestone on the screen.
I called the owners, who apologized and offered to find a cleaning service and send it over. I told them that we would need to have the cleaning company here within the hour, or the dust will be unable to be removed. They said they didn't think they could do that, so I told them I would try to spray the screen with a garden hose and if that didn't work I would try to use a soft brush and water and if that didn't work, the soft brush with a water-Dawn-vinegar solution and see if that worked. A pressure washer won't work, because the pressure needed to remove the hardening dust will also remove the dye used to make the screen black, leaving the screen permanently marked with grey swirls. It turned out that scrubbing the screen inside and out with the water-dawn-vinegar solution was the only process that worked. It took a full day to clean the screen and another half day to use my own pressure washer to wash the walls floor and ceiling of my lenai. I haven't heard from the neighbor since they got back from their trip.
I called Perfect Way Pavers and the job supervisor came out two days later with a worker and a pressure washer in tow. I had already cleaned the screen and pressure cleaned the lenai. He said that he had told the workers to use water when they cut the tile to suppress dust, but they didn't follow those instructions. So he was obviously not on site to supervise, and his workers don't follow instructions, AND don't care to monitor what damage they might be doing to the property of others. I think people should think long and hard about hiring a company that doesn't have on-site supervisors to be sure their workers are doing the work properly, and has workers who don't follow instructions and don't give a darn about the personal property of others.
