My best advice to anyone considering using Storm Smart in Ft Myers, FL is AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. My experience started as expected when the salesman John Edgar came on June 3, 2020. I was given a reasonable price for two replacement windows, a lanai accordion shutter and front entry vertical panels. Per the salesman, the approximate delivery time was 8 weeks. I was told the contact administrator would be in touch. This was the beginning of the nightmare. Unless I initiated contact, I never heard from Storm Smart. Here is the timeline of events: JUNE 3, 2020 John Edgar came to my home to do the estimate JUNE 9, 2020 I hadn't heard anything from anyone about coming out to measure so I emailed John. He said "The measure rep. will come out once they have the HOA and ARC approvals. Typically it's about three weeks". Not sure why he said I needed HOA approval since I live in a single family home. JUNE 23, 2020 I still hadn't heard from anyone so I reached out to John again requesting updates. No response. After repeated phone calls and emails, someone finally came out to measure for the shutters. AUG 24, 2020 Hurricane shutters installed but still no word on someone to come out to measure for the windows. OCT 6, 2020 I reached out to the salesman again to request when my two windows would be installed. No response. OCT 8, 2020 I reached out to the salesman again to inquire about the window installation. He finally responded to say that Elisa would be calling to go over the schedule. After she researched where my windows were, she informed me that only one window came in and that they had to reorder the other window. My strong suspicion all along was that my windows were never ordered and that my phone calls prompted this discovery. Additionally, they never contacted the county for an inspection of the hurricane shutters. I had to call Storm Smart to initiate that process. NOV 19, 2020 Collier County came out to do the inspection. Storm Smart erroneously wrote the permit for clear lexan panels when I had steel panels installed. Storm Smart also requested that the windows be inspected when they had not yet been installed. So I was failed on two counts by the county. NOV 23, 2020 Both windows were finally installed (remember the salesman said 8 weeks from June 3) I waited and waited to hear back from Storm Smart hoping that they would contact me about correcting the paperwork with the county and rescheduling the inspections. That never happened. I called them 12/11/20 and spoke with Stefan who assured me that Storm Smart would submit the permit revision and I would hear back from them within 3-5 business days. That never happened. I called SS again. Stefan informed me that the county still hadn't put through the revision. It is now JAN 15, 2020 and I still have not heard from Storm Smart regarding the inspections of my hurricane shutters and windows. There is ABSOLUTELY NO FOLLOW-UP OR FOLLOW-THROUGH with this company. When I tell you that this has been the worst customer service experience ever, that is a gross understatement. Communication was non-existent unless contact was initiated by me. Clearly, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at this company. I was put through to department heads who assured me if I had any further problems to contact them directly. When I did, they didn't return my calls. The salesman placed the blame for the delays on COVID and stood by the company's reputation. Not exactly what I wanted to hear after waiting nearly 6 months for my two windows to be installed and am still waiting for county inspections to be scheduled. If I could, I would give them a zero star.
