After completing high school at The Westminster Schools, he went to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore for his undergraduate degree in Biology. He returned home afterwards and attended The Georgia Institute of Technology where he obtained a master's degree in Applied Biology. He is a graduate of Emory University School of Medicine where he was fortunate to meet his wife. After graduating medical school, he moved to Miami and completed his residency in general surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, finishing as Chief Resident for the Department of General Surgery.
