I am writing this review to share my deeply frustrating experience with FEC, specifically with Board Chair, Kelly Wheeler. My concerns regarding my children's education and their treatment by the faculty were met with dismissive and unprofessional responses from Kelly. The situation began when my children were falsely accused of plagiarism, resulting in a zero score on their history project. When I sought clarification and evidence for this accusation, Kelly sidestepped the issue and focused on financial matters instead. Furthermore, instead of addressing my concerns directly, she encouraged me to contact the teacher in question, which demonstrates a lack of responsibility and ownership from the Board Chair. Throughout our correspondence, Kelly ignored my repeated requests for a detailed financial statement and consistently avoided addressing the issue of the false plagiarism accusation. When I finally received a financial summary, the information was still incomplete, and my requests for further clarification were met with more evasiveness. To add insult to injury, Kelly presented me with two unreasonable options: either continue with the school year on probation or terminate our family contract, without offering any satisfactory resolutions to the problems at hand. The tone and manner in which these options were presented felt like an ultimatum, leaving me with no real choice or support. Furthermore, the school's board, comprised entirely of internal stakeholders with no outside expertise or influence, has created a toxic environment where fair and objective decision-making is virtually non-existent. The lack of external input on the board has led to an echo chamber where personal biases go unchecked, and discrimination is allowed to flourish. It is deeply concerning that the school's leadership remains resistant to bringing in outside perspectives that could provide a more balanced approach to addressing the issues within the institution. The consequences of this insular decision-making structure are evident in the way the school handles conflicts and concerns raised by parents. In my experience, the board has demonstrated a consistent lack of empathy and understanding, often dismissing valid concerns in favor of maintaining the status quo. This approach not only perpetuates existing problems but also creates an environment where families feel unsupported and unheard. The absence of external expertise on the board means that important decisions are often made based on personal relationships and favoritism rather than objective criteria. This approach undermines the quality of education and fosters an environment of mistrust and division among families and staff. In conclusion, my experience with FEC and Kelly Wheeler has been utterly disappointing and frustrating. I would strongly caution other parents against enrolling their children in a school that treats its families with such disregard and unprofessionalism. The school may claim to be a cooperative, but it seems that it is only interested in cooperation when it suits its own interests. The school's decision-making structure, dominated by internal stakeholders without any outside influence, has resulted in a culture rife with bias and discrimination. Parents seeking an inclusive and supportive environment for their children should look elsewhere, as FEC has proven itself to be incapable of providing the level of transparency, fairness, and accountability that families rightfully expect from an educational institution.
