If you are a single female homeowner you should think twice, read all the reviews you can find, and run a background check before hiring Daniel Colon (Danny) of DNA Custom Interiors, LLC. I hired DNA Custom Interiors, LLC after a burst pipe under my kitchen floor. The job was to remove the granite counters, remove and dispose of the damaged baseboards and cabinets, build and install new cabinets, re-install the granite counters, and replace and paint the baseboards. When they came to install the cabinets, they failed to do two very important things which they said they would do. They did not bring a granite crew, and they did not bring laminate to lay on the floor to protect it while they repositioned the refrigerator. Both of these were discussed when Danny came out to give me an estimate, and then again in the week leading up to the install, including a reminder the day before. The granite was badly damaged on reinstall, and the month-old new hardwood floor was badly damaged with a gouge from the corner of a cabinet and deep scratches while moving the refrigerator. I was able to get the granite company that Danny promised to begin with, to come out and reinstall the granite and repair the damages to it. I paid them directly, when presented with the bill. The next day, when I gave Danny the paid receipt for this, he was horribly belligerent and aggressive, freely using unpleasant language. This after he told me to call, and we'd agreed that it was his expense to make it right. While the granite crew were in my home, they told me they had never worked with DNA before (not what Danny told me) and that they were not contacted until AFTER the failed attempt to reinstall the granite. They also showed me that the damage to the granite was caused by Danny making a measurement error when building the cabinets and then trying to make the granite fit over his mistake. This ordeal was horribly stressful, and completely unnecessary, had Danny just done what he said he would do. As to the damage to the new hardwood floor, I had to pay $1,300 to have the scratches buffed out and the floor re-varnished. On the day that Danny and his father Mr. Daniel Camareno Colon came out to do some final touch up, adjust drawers and doors that weren't working properly, install a missing shelf, and pick up their final check, I told Danny of the cost I was about to pay to have the floor rebuffed, and that I wanted to discuss some sort of compensation for this. Well, he went ballistic, saying: I'll lien your (blank) house, and make sure you never get your insurance money! And then left without finishing the final work. That evening I ran a background check, which I suggest you do before you consider hiring him. I decided to pay Mr. Colon the next morning out of fear for what he might do if I didn't. To date, I still have cabinet doors that slam and rub together, drawers that are spaced awkwardly, a broken drawer handle, and a missing shelf. And they did not finish installing the baseboard. Mindful of what I read in his background report, I have been very polite and cautious in my communications with Danny Colon. Every time I text him to ask when they would finish the job, he said, Next week.
