I built Horses Proper Nutrition from the inspiration that my horse (Cinny) gave to me. I had Cinny for 15 years. She started getting sick and having issues eating her hay, grass, and grain. So, a long, long story short. We ended up having to put Cinny on three types of softened foods. The vet said she had some missing teeth and her others were worn down to the gums. So, a long, long story short. We ended up having to put Cinny on three types of softened foods. The vet said she had some missing teeth and her others were worn down to the gums. That's how Cinny ate her food for two years. I had to work with the vet and weigh her food to make sure she got the amount of food for her weight to keep her as healthy as possible. Also involved reading labels on the grain bags to learn what was listed because different brands of grain have different ingredients added that wouldn't give her the nutrition her body needed. Cinny had to have beet pulp, hay cubes, senior grain. All three were in separate dishes and soaked with water morning and night. She started losing lots of weight, and her body was no longer digesting her food properly. Sad report from the vet, she had to be euthanized. That is a horrible word to me. I had to have it done as soon as possible because Cinny wouldn't survive another winter. I contacted MSU, and they took her as a donation to the vet school. I was heartbroken. Cinny lived 30 years.
