Ghosted Out 9k!!! After finding Justin Hanratty with Creative Pergola Designs through a FB post recommendation in a Seminole heights community group I would have never suspected how horribly wrong things would go. He was quick to show up, excitably agree to the projects and collect 9k, but after that was like pulling teeth for any kind of response and it literally took 3 months for him to show up again. He continued to give excuses on why he couldn't show up to deliver materials. This went on and on until ,I assume, he ran out of believable excuses (some of them were questionable) and eventually showed up to start work on only the back pergola project, I actually hired him to do both my front and back pergola projects. He ended up installing just the posts and header for the back and I was fortunate enough to have several GC's stop by and explain to me that it would never pass code and the entire structure was unsafe bc he used the wrong screws and the weight of the header wasn't being supported by the posts so it was just matter of time before it would come crashing down (like another complaint from a customer of Justin's that I've read). To make matters worse, I started investigating Justin and creative pergola designs and found out that the company doesn't even exist on paper anymore and he's unlicensed!!!! That's the reason he requests cash or Venmo payments bc he can't have a business account. He hasn't filed his annual report with Sunbiz.org in over 2 years. I was willing to wash my hands of this whole terrible fiasco, if he paid back a very small portion of the $8900 given. In return, I would not share my experience on social media or report his unlicensed company to the counties that he does business in. Obviously, he failed to honor the terms of that agreement. If you are finding this review I hope you haven't given him money yet and if you have and it's gone bad, I hope you contact all 3 counties that he's doing illegal business in (Pinellas, Hillsborough & Pasco) and get him shut down for good. Not only is he doing unlicensed and dangerous work that could kill someone one day, he also is using the majority of the money he gets for new projects to pay his personal bills instead of buying materials for your project. He's literally floating money, robbing Peter to pay Paul. You will 1000% regret every moment after you've given him money.
