A contract and deposit was signed and paid to complete work on a water damaged utility room. At this time it was made very clear that the work would need to be done when my husband is home from offshore; which is for 2 weeks at a time. The first week of October I was contacted by Mr. Aizen for half of the balance so that he would get materials and be ready to begin when my husband got home (Oct. 28th). I texted him two weeks prior to that as he requested and agreed on a Monday start date. Due to the hurricane he pushed the start date back. He started on Nov 3rd (sending his helper to begin). The helper worked for 5 hours, removing about 2/3 of the flooring and the water heater. He left; stating he would return but did not. After much back and forth Mr. Aizen said he could be by the following Monday and begin again. This time did not work for us due to my husband going back offshore. Now my floor is half torn up and there is no plan on starting work for another six weeks. At this point I asked for a refund of the $750 I paid him for materials.
This is the breakdown of charges he gave me and stopped responding to my texts.
Remove water heater $100 (this was not put back in prior to them leaving)
Remove flooring with mold $200 (only 2/3 of the floor was removed)
Removed moldings $125 (this is a very small utility room)
Clean up and throw away trash $50 (the room was not cleaned and the trash was not removed)
Fix a plumbing valve $50 (that's reasonable I guess)
He went to get materials and then returned them so they wouldn't get damaged $200 (he told me he had to look at the damage prior to getting the materials and knew of the start date when he requested money for the materials)
That all equals $725 - don't understand how 5 hours of work can equal that much money when there was much more work to be done and I only owed him another $700 according to the quote.
I have emails to back up everything and every conversation; including scheduling.

I apologize for the miscommunication between the customer and myself. The customer and I did come to an agreement to refund the customer.
