“My whole life I have enjoyed gardening since I was a kid. It is one of the things my father and I bonded on and enjoyed together. “My whole life I have enjoyed gardening since I was a kid. It is one of the things my father and I bonded on and enjoyed together. His family had a 120-acre farm, and every summer, when I was a kid, I spent most of my summers there gardening, tending to the livestock, fishing, and just being a boy in the country. I got to help with raising rabbits, earthworms, harvesting field crops, driving tractors, planting gardens, and picking the vegetables, as well as tilling the fields, tending to the grape vineyard, and cleaning out the barns, too.
By the time I reached 23, I was out of college, living in New Jersey and landed a job with a company called Chemlawn in the tree and shrub dept. I took care of 400 tree and shrub account customers, making a minimum of 5 visits per year to each property for applications of fertilizers and pest controls, and diagnosing improper planting procedures. I started noticing how so many struggling plants were planted in the wrong spot on the property if they were to thrive in their specific element, or planted where they would be best suited to the direct or indirect sunlight, heat and cold, moisture requirements, and even exposure to wind and wildlife. I became what I considered to be a woody ornamental planting specialist, and someone who could install and maintain your landscape with amazing results of slow-growing, long-lasting designs that took a minimum of effort to maintain and keep it looking lush and vibrant. This was when I first contemplated chemical-free gardening and plant maintenance. How could I limit the impact of chemicals on a property and on the homeowner? Thus, my first entrepreneurial business venture was born in NJ Freehold, the Brunswicks, Edison, and the Jersey shore between Deal and Point Pleasant.
I moved my family and business to Springfield where I eventually grew that concept into a tree farm, where I grew trees and shrubs from liners or sticks into trees I would dig up and install on customers property's throughout MO. Every year, I would plant a garden and fine tune growing my food, houseplants, and herbs. If I did not enjoy so much hard work, I may have never moved my family and business to Springfield . So for my final act, I have compiled the best of the best of my experiences in gardening and landscape maintenance to offer you what most have been waiting for... a place you can go and get good advice, some of the best products available.
