THIS CATERER CANCELLED ON ME A WEEK BEFORE MY WEDDING! STAY FAR, FAR AWAY! I chose Down South Delights because my wedding planner had used them in the past and because the prices and food were decent. About a month before the wedding my wedding planner called me in tears. Down South Delights was the caterer for a birthday party (with a $10,000 budget I might add) my wedding planner was in charge of and they showed up an hour and 45 minutes late with cold food! No apologies or anything! They brought the food in their personal cars and were dressed very unprofessionally. Rita, the owner, was no where to be found. My wedding planner was so upset because she had been the one to recommend DSD and she suggested we get a new caterer. Rita, the owner, called my planner the following Monday and promised that everything would be perfect for my wedding and she would bend over backwards to make it perfect. I decided to stick with her since we were 6 weeks away from the wedding. I made out all my checks for the vendors that were getting paid day of (DJ, Photo Booth, etc) and Down South Delights because I thought that is when I had to pay them. All the checks were dated 5.12.12 because that was the day of the wedding. My wedding planner called me 12 days before the wedding and stated that Rita was demanding her money then (yes the contract said payment was to be received 14 days but I thought I paid her day of, simple new bride to be mistake).
