This review is for Capital Plumbing Contractors in Tallahassee, FL. We recently had them unclog a toilet. While waiting for the bill to arrive, we received a notice that they filed a lien on our property, which they charged an additional $125 on our bill for due to "filing fees."
The lien was filed based on a non-permanent home improvement, which is against FL Statute 713. We paid the $125, and then the company stated they never filed a lien to begin with. The entire thing was a money-making scam. In addition, we would have paid the entire bill up front if we would have received the bill on day one.
This constitutes fraud under FL law, as they stated they had made an illegal property claim to our home's title just to collect a bogus filing fee of an extra $125 for something that never occurred. We are working downtown to prosecute.
