Bayer's Melon Farm began in 1980 when the Bayer family planted its first acre of Burpee Hybrid Cantaloupes just off Route 35, near Trotwood, Ohio. By 1990, the Bayer family, with the help of local teens, was harvesting about 40 acres of delicious cantaloupes and vegetables year after year - hauls that were large enough to pile up on their driveway and sell to folks who were driving by.
