My wife and I have been taking our cars to Sam Conte since 1999. At the time she was having troubles with her car and a big chain transmission shop told her she needed $2500 in work. We decided to take the car in to Conte's for a second opinion. We didn't know a thing about him and we were out-of-towners to him. We found she only needed $250 of work. We've been with him ever since and even though we live 25 minutes away, we still take our vehicles to him. I will sit in a nearby diner and wait and work, or take a bus into the office. This is less convenient to me, but I prefer the peace of mind of knowing I'm being told the truth. Five years ago a tire and auto shop in our town suggested I needed a new transmission or a new car. I took it to Sam: the car needed a new gasket-it was leaking. The repair cost $32.00 and I got two more years out of the car. Sam, Jimmy, and the guys are straight shooters and will never tell you that you need work that is not required. His father started the business in the 1940s and he honors the family name.
