I did not do business with this company, but they sure did business with me They share a parking lot with Sutter Health's Physical Therapy office in midtown Santa Cruz. I take my wife to that clinic twice weekly, using her car. I was parked a bit closer to their office than to Sutter's front door. Two different men, both wearing R.E. hats (and the second man even had a R.E. polo shirt), stopped and stared at me while I was sitting in the car. I'm older and the car is a nice one - a Toyota Solara convertible. I did not know why I was being stared at, so I opened my door and asked the second and younger man, just what the trouble was. He was evasive and weird. I finally got it out of him that I was parked in a place that was reserved for their business. That's all I needed to know. I tried explain to him that I was waiting for AAA, as I had left the headlights on and the battery had died (it was foggy morning). My wife's appointments are 45 minutes long, and the battery is at least 8 years old. I don't think he even heard or comprehended that part. Then the conversation turned personal, with the younger man frequently throwing 'f bombs' at me. He pointedly asked why I was driving 'an old lady's car'. I tried to tell him that it was my wife's car, but it didn't sink in with him. Besides, it's a perfectly nice car - nothing wrong with it (except for my having left the lights on). I also pointed out that it was absolutely none of his business as to what type of car I was driving. Once the AAA man arrived, this guy even began questioning him in an aggressive manner. The AAA guy had nothing to do with where I was parked! He was a complete loose canon and a poor representative for his company. Remember, he wore the company logo both on his hat, and on his polo shirt. When asked if this was an example of how he conducted himself with his customers, he threw it back on me by saying he would never take a client like myself (for parking in the wrong place). I then told him I would never recommend his business to anyone. Now I'm sharing this information with you. Regarding the parking space, there is no sign claiming the spot. However, as the younger did manage to point out without getting too personal, there is old, worn out white lettering on the pavement. It was difficult to see on a relatively foggy and dark morning. The issue of this parking spot is a big deal to these people. That being the case, they should take it up with their landlord to get them a sign, or put fresh lettering on the pavement. Staring at people parked in their cars is not the way to deal with the situation. And by the way, there was plenty of other parking nearby. I would have gladly moved my car, once the AAA guy was done getting the battery jumped. By that point, my wife had returned. Oh, and by the way number two, I was ready to call the police on this R.E. guy, as I asked him repeatedly to get out of my face. I was so upset, that I couldn't see where I had set the phone down. By that point, the wife was already back and seated. This was a truly horrible experience that could have been avoided, if R.E. had used some of their ingenuity to get the problem resolved with their landlord.
