I work at Marshall Health Care in Machias, I understand that the corporation is going to do away with Residential Care and just be a skilled facility only. Do you realize you will be displacing a 103 yr old lady?? if your loved one was in a facility and suddenly had to be moved, would you be happy with it? How ironic we received this news when it is Assisted Living Week!

Hello I'm CNA and have been for almost 12 years my mother is also a CNA she has worked as a CNA 25 yrs. We love what we do and trust me the care we provide is not easy we have many different levels of care that we have cared for over the years. Presently we work at the facility located in Machias Maine and right now we are unsure if that is going to continue. I'm a mother of 5 and I have to do what is best for my family and I'm working hard to do that but when in getting paid the low wages it makes it very hard and I mean low wages I've been looking into leaving this job because for the level of care we provide our pay is ridiculously there are assisted living faucilities in the area that have there PSS starting out at 10 or more hour doing Alot less for there residents whn I've been work at the same facility for 12 years and I don't even make 10 a hour my mother has been here 25 years and she doesn't even make 11.00 a hour. We both love our jobs and the people we care for but with the cost of living and the fuel we have to have the pay has begun to not be worth it. Right now we are low on staffing so in some ways it's unavoidable but in some ways it is. We could get more CNA' s here to work if the pay was more they look at it like this why work somewhere doing back braking work and work ur rear end off and get paid less for barley doing anything. We have nurses working the floor being paid double the rates CNA's get and that is cost the company more. This makes no sense.
