Schuylkill County Municipal Authority (SCMA) is a County Authority that was formed in 1961. The Authority purchased the former Pottsville Water Company that had been in existence since 1834. The Authority is responsible for providing potable water and sanitary sewer service to over 30,000 residents in 22 municipalities through Schuylkill County including: City of Pottsville, Mechanicsville Bor., New Castle Township, Foster Township, St. Clair Borough, Mount Carbon Bor., North Manheim Twp., West Mahanoy Twp., Port Carbon Bor., East Norwegian Twp., Tremont Borough, Blythe Township, Palo Alto Borough, Norwegian Twp., Tremont Township, Frailey Township, Ryan Township, Bulter Township, Cass Township, Deer Lake Borough, Auburn Borough, West Brunswick Twp.
