The property was originally owned by the famous Theodore Swann, a local business man in Birmingham, AL that struck it rich in the 1920s and also built the Swann House (aka Swann Castle) at the base of Red Mountain. Theodore Swann originally constructed a barn where the current stables are, but it fell into disrepair and was destroyed. The current owners built Swann Lake Stables in 2004 as a horse boarding facility but the property is now used solely as an event venue.
