I hired Hooper's Paving in April 2022 to blacktop my driveway. The old driveway was gravel and I needed something I could push a wheelchair on without gettIng stuck. They recommended asphalt milling as the best option. I was told that the milling would harden up and be just as smooth as blacktop. That I would be able to push my daughter's wheelchair with ease. I was told to pay half upfront ($2100) and the remaining amount ($2100) when they finished the job. The first red flag should've been when I asked if I could pay using debit and I was told only cash or checks. The second red flag was when I arrived home from a doctor's appointment and they were finishing up the driveway when I wasn't home. I asked for the written work order when they gave me the receipt and I was told that they don't provide work orders when you pay with cash. What kind of company doesn't keep records of the jobs they do? A few days later the driveway still hadn't hardened like they said it would and it was looking more and more like gravel. I contacted the company and explained my concerns about the driveway. I was told that it hasn't been hot enough out yet and to give it a few more days to let the sun harden it. After a couple weeks and I still couldn't push my daughter's wheelchair without it getting stuck I contacted them again. I sent them pictures of the driveway showing that it was nothing but loose gravel. It had grass growing up throughout the gravel and when it rained it had water standing and puddles. They would say that they were coming out but they never showed. This went on for months. Me calling, texting, and sending pictures. They never did anything to fix the driveway. Months passed without any kind of resolution so I told them I would go to the court if I had to. They said I got what I asked for and that I was being a nuisance. I asked for blacktop and they suggested asphalt milling. This is the worst company I have ever worked with. As long as they get paid they don't care how they do the job. I don't recommend Hooper's Paving to anyone.
