VSFA runs 6 co-ed camps every summer for students aged 11 to 15 who are interested in space-related technology, including model rocketry and robotics.

VSFA has an Aeronautics Education Lab (AEL) sponsored by NASA's SEMAA (Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Aerospace Academy) where campers may practice flight simulation. Campers also visit various operational facilities of NASA, NOAA, the US Navy, MARS, and Orbital Sciences . They perform one- and two-stage model rocketry, implement a simulated rocket launch & explore robotics using Lego (c) Mindstorm (c) NXT systems. Campers also get to visit Assateague Island, probably the most unspoiled barrier island on the East coast & home to the famous Chincoteague ponies. After hours, students may visit the many attractions on Chincoteague Island, including bumper boats, go-karts and miniature golf. In addition to its regular summer camps, VSFA offers custom camps during the school year for scouts and school groups.
