Kephart - West Music Decorah Kephart's Music Center, with headquarters in Decorah, Iowa and West Music Company, based in Coralville, Iowa are excited to announce the merger of two family-owned and operated music companies with a rich history in music products and school service. On February 20, 2014, Kephart's and West Music joined together, expanding their extraordinary services to musicians throughout the upper Midwest. By combining resources, Kephart's and West Music are able to provide customers throughout the Midwest with an even larger selection of top quality products, additional services, and as always, timely and professional customer support. In the upcoming months, Kephart's and West Music will work together in planning and executing the necessary business transitions, including moving their Dubuque retail storefront to a new location. The primary goal of both companies is to continue providing quality products along with outstanding customer service that will continue to support all families, educators, and musicians. Working Together for Years The Kephart-West association dates back over 60 years to the fall of 1953 when Russ Kephart met and studied under Pearl West through an instrument repair program. Through the years, the Kephart and West families became friends and often enjoyed each other's company at music conventions, school music programs, and Iowa Hawkeye football games. Lynne Kephart, wife of Russ, summed up the spirit of the companies' merger, "True, we've been friendly competitors over the years, but we've always had great respect for each other and share the same business philosophy. We believe that our primary goal - to serve our customers in strong support of music education - can be better achieved now with the combined resources of both companies." About Kephart's Music Center Since 1960, Kephart's Music Center has been family-owned and operated, with two store locations in Decorah and Dubuque. Kephart's is proud to serve Northeast Iowa, Western Wisconsin, Northwest Illinois, and Southeast Minnesota.
