Walter Henry Schwab, is the Principal Architect with Architecture Plus Engineering and Construction, LLC. located in Atlanta Georgia. He is also former President of the Peachtree Way Development Company. Mr. Schwab is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, with a post graduate degree in Architecture, 1965, and has practiced as a Architectural and Engineering firm since 1971. The firm is licensed in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina.
The firm has focused on food service and hospitality completing over 50 restaurants in the past ten years. The firm is also involved in the construction of warehousing and apartments. During his supervision of the design process Mr. Schwab is responsible for complying with the new Federal 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design. While similar to previous codes, there are new standards that make the code different from those in the past. The firm also provides Design/Build services and is currently acting as project manager for several projects. Included in these services are the processing of Building Permit applications. These include submissions to Building Departments, Health Departments and the Fire Marshall’s office.
This experience has provided him with valuable insight into the building codes, code enforcement and the permitting process. Working with many layers of City and County officials, Mr. Schwab has served as Chairman for the Buckhead Neighborhood planning unit. With a continuing enthusiasm for changing the bureaucracy in local government, Mr. Schwab was a Candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives. At a recent seminar on building permits, Mr. Schwab spoke on the need for clarity and simplicity in writing codes and streamlining the permit process.
